Explore the Cooper River. The Cooper River is a tidal river with its origins in Lake Moultrie, outside Moncks Corner in Berkeley County. Short and wide, it is joined first by the blackwater East Branch, then farther downstream, the tidal Wando River. Almost immediately thereafter, the river widens into its estuary, uniting with the Ashley River to form the Charleston Harbor. The Bushy Park Public Boat Landing is maintained by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and this boat landing provides access to the Cooper and Back Rivers. Located on Highway SC 503, 0.6 miles north of County Road 29. Free access.
