The New Concord Park. The City of Charleston is getting a new park! The space formally known as Ansonborough Fields is now known as Concord Park. The park is going to be developed by East West Partners.The park will a series of mixed use buildings at each end including 160 residential condominiums, a 50 room inn, 60 affordable housing units, 20,000 square feet of commercial space and a 26,000 square foot office building. In between will be an expanse with athletic fields bordered by playground and seating areas. www.charlestoncity.info

Memorial Waterfront Park. This 14 acre, 14 million dollar Waterfront Park is located at the foot of the Arthur Ravenel Bridge. You can enjoy the freshly landscaped walking paths, a nice lunch at one of the picnic tables, or simply relax on one of the many swings that overlook the Charleston Harbor. The 1250 foot long fishing pier is a fisherman’s dream and provides outstanding views of the water and lots of dolphins. The Waterfront Park includes a sweetgrass cultural arts building, a huge visitor center, a playground, and an amazing 8-foot-tall war memorial. Parking at the park is 50 cents per hour and the fishing fee is $5 for a one day pass for Charleston County residents, $8 for non-Charleston County residents and $3 for children 12 and under. www.charletsoncity.info

Saddle Up! Trailer your horse out to Mullet Hall Equestrian Center at Johns Island County Park, one of the few public equestrian trail systems in the Lowcountry. With 20 miles of trails winding through southern pines and moss-draped oaks and alongside meadows and fields, Mullet Hall is open 365 days a year from dawn to dusk. Trails are accessible only to pass members. Membership includes up to 2 stickers for the member's horse trailer and up to 4 identification tags for each family member's saddle.
