• Marine Life in 4-D at the South Carolina Aquarium The South Carolina Aquarium is unveiling some exciting new attractions this year, including a 4 dimensional experience. The 4-D, 52 seat theatre, is expected to open in April and show educational films that create not only a visual experience but a physical experience as well. The theatre will be equipped with interactive chairs that produce sensory effects including water, vibrations, and a variety of scents. The first film expected to be shown is Planet Earth: Shallow Seas, a condensed version of the acclaimed television series. The aquarium will also introduce 5 new sharks to their tank, raising their total to 10. The program is designed to promote the use of local and sustainable seafood in South Carolina restaurants. Blu is one of six restaurants in Charleston with Platinum certification. The Sustainable Seafood Initiative is guided by an interdisciplinary and diverse Steering Committee ensuring the program balances the needs of the environment with the world population’s need for seafood.

• The Charleston Symphony Orchestra will perform a free concert overlooking the lake at Smythe Park on Daniel Island. Island residents and visitors are invited to pack a picnic and spend a spring evening with family and friends on the shaded banks of the lake while enjoying the harmonic sounds of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Prizes will be awarded for the most elaborate and creative picnic spreads, including $500 to the charity of choice to the winner. Judging will start at 6:30 pm and the concert will begin at 7:30 pm.

• The Mt. Pleasant Tennis Complex has grown in correlation with the desire to pick up a racquet and ball. Once housing 12 lighted hard-courts, the complex has added three new Har-Tru Clay courts. “Since the Mount Pleasant Tennis Complex is fully utilized during peak hours, the three additional courts also allow for more court availability during evening league play,” said Mount Pleasant Recreation Department Tennis Coordinator Jimmy Millar. • Play the Muni! Affectionately referred to as "The Muni," The City Course opened in 1929 and it has hosted the South Carolina State Championship and remains the home of the Charleston City Amateur. The Municipal Course is a very golferfriendly course and is one of the few walkable golf courses in Charleston. With open green fronts and no forced carries except for the championship tees, it is a wonderful course for beginners, women, and seniors! The 60th Annual Men’s City Amateur Golf Championship will be held May 14th- 16th, the Ladies City Amateur Golf Championship will be held June 1st-3rd and the Senior Amateur Championship will be held November 5th-7th. www.charlestoncity.info
• Join The Regiment! The Official Supporter’s Club of the Charleston Battery Soccer Club. Join The Regiment in the E 10 section of Blackbaud Stadium during the games. The Regiment makes an effort to tailgate before Saturday evening home games. Please bring a dish to share and join us for pre-game festivities, food, and cold beverages. This season you can find us on the East Stand side of the stadium. We usually fire up the grill around 5:30 PM.
