Folly Beach offers a variety of activities for residents and visitors including boating & chartered boating, camping, fishing, golf, hiking, jet skiing, kayaking, parasailing and swimming. Residents enjoy bike riding and walking along the palm-lined streets, lit in the evening with old-fashioned lamp posts. The Folly Beach Fishing Pier, which offers opportunities for bird watching, fishing, and walking stretches more than 1,045 feet into the Atlantic Ocean. A large covered shelter is located at the pier's end. 

There are various rental places throughout Folly Beach to fulfill your recreational needs. In additional, there are several experienced boaters that offer Folly Beach ocean charters through the waters and marshes around Folly and nearby islands. Whether it's family fishing, watching dolphins, touring the Morris Island Lighthous, crabbing and fishing, or simply enjoying a sunset cruise, there is an age appropriate charter for your family.

Hiking is a much sought after experience on Folly Beach because it's a small barrier island with flat, sandy ground. A favorite hiking destination is the northeast tip of the island where you can see the Morris Island Lighthouse. A paved path leads to an opening of sand and beach.

Folly Beach County Park, located on the west end of Folly Beach offers 4,000 feet of oceanfront beach, lifeguard-monitored swimming (which is seasonal), and picnicking.

Salsa Under the Stars Put on your dancing shoes, because DJ Luigi of Latin Groove will spice up the night with the best in Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Reggaeton music. The Folly Beach Fishing Pier, host of the popular Moonlight Mixers “Shaggin’ on the Pier”, brings Latin music to Folly Beach again this summer with the premier salsa event, Salsa Under the Stars. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at Locklear’s Beach City Grill and the Gangplank Gift and Tackle Shop.

The Folly Beach Surf Kayak Competition - Come participate in the Folly Beach Surf Kayak Competition for men’s, women’s, novice, & junior divisions. This popular & exciting traditional surf kayak event begins at the Folly Beach Fishing Pier. Even if you don’t paddle, come out to watch the fun as competitors shred, thrash, and slash in the surf!

Moonlight Mixers - Put on your dancing shoes and shag the night away at the Folly Beach Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier, where DJ Rob Duren will be spinning the hottest oldies and beach music.
