In addition to a steel band and acoustic guitar acts, the Trenholm Artists Guild will host a showing of artwork by 20 of its members. A Taste of Forest Acres (sponsored by the Forest Acres Restaurant and Merchants Association) will offer samples of food from several Forest Acres restaurants. Families are encouraged to bring their picnic baskets and enjoy the spring azaleas in Quinine Hill all day. The event is free to the public. Food and beverages will be on sale from $1 to $3. The 2009 Festival of Gardens will showcase beautiful residential gardens located in the Forest Hills District, one of Columbia’s most historic neighborhoods as well as residential gardens in the Tangelwood Neighborhood. Tours will be held on Thursday May 14th and Saturday May 16th. The May Festival will feature 12 residential gardens with tours running from 9:30a.m. - 3:30p.m. both days. The event will also feature a tea party each day from 2 p.m. -5 p.m. at the last home on the tour. As with past Festivals, Master Gardeners will be available at each garden to answer questions about gardening and specific plant characteristics.
