Buy Your New Home in North Charleston!

North Charleston has quickly become the hotspot for residential building in the greater Charleston area.  Its relatively lower land costs have attracted developers looking to offer more affordable housing options.  The result has been a boom in building permits and new subdivisions with a wealth of competing amenities.  Harbor Homes, DR Horton, Dan Ryan Builders, and many other home buiders are finding North Charleston to be a particularly appealing place to build.

North Charleston is an incorporated city north of Charleston with a population of 89,000. Its city limits touch along the Ashley River to the west and along the Cooper to the east, and although it is located primarily in Charleston County, it reaches into Berkeley and Dorchester counties as well. It is presently the third largest city in South Carolina. North Charleston is home to the Charleston Air Force Base and the Naval Weapons Station. Housing options span a wide spectrum in suburban North Charleston. They range from executive homes along the Ashley River and golf course communities to numerous developments of starter homes.

All major thoroughfares connecting Charleston with points north and west (I-95 and Columbia) run directly through North Charleston. This includes I-26, US 52, and US 78. The Mark Clark Expressway (I-526), Charleston's beltway, intersects I-26 in North Charleston. All parts of Greater Charleston are easily reached from North Charleston. The Charleston International Airport is located 12 miles from downtown Charleston, served by six commercial airlines and offering 162 inbound and outbound flights daily. It serves more than 1.6 million passengers each year. North Charleston is home to most of Greater Charleston's military population. The Charleston Air Force Base and the US Naval Weapons Station are accessed through North Charleston.
