North Charleston is an incorporated city north of Charleston with a population of 89,000. Its city limits touch along the Ashley River to the west and along the Cooper to the east, and although it is located primarily in Charleston County, it reaches into Berkeley and Dorchester counties as well. It is presently the third largest city in South Carolina. North Charleston is home to the Charleston Air Force Base and the Naval Weapons Station. The Charleston Air Force Base and the US Naval Weapons Station are accessed through North Charleston.
